About

Heli Assist was founded by Sean Coleman in 2010 and is based in Auckland, New Zealand.

Sean began his aviation career in the South African Airforce where he completed an apprenticeship as an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer and gained experience servicing ORYX and Alouette III helicopters.

After leaving the airforce he worked for Southern Rotorcraft as a Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (LAME) before moving to New Zealand in 1999.

During his time in New Zealand Sean worked as a LAME for Marine Helicopters, Airbus Helicopters and Airwork (NZ) and gained experience working on single and twin engine helicopters, the New Zealand Civil Aviation Authority (NZCAA) rules and requirements, holds an Inspectors Authorisation and the following ratings:

Rotorcraft Group 2 - Single Turbine Engine Helicopters - AS350, EC120, EC130, BELL 206 and MD 500.
Rotorcraft Group 3 - Twin Turbine Engine Helicopters - AS355, BELL 427, EC135 and BK117.
Powerplant Group 3 - Turbine Engines - Safran HE ARRIEL 1 and 2 series, Safran HE ARRIUS 2 series, Rolls Royce 250 series, Honeywell LTS 101 series and Pratt & Whitney 206 series.
